Heatmap

A heatmap shows the whole market in one picture. Every coin is a rectangle: the bigger the rectangle, the larger the coin by market capitalisation (or by volume or fully diluted valuation, if you switch the sizing); the colour shows how far the price has moved — green shades for gains, red for losses, deeper colour for bigger moves.

It answers at a glance the question a table cannot: is the market broadly up or down today, and is the move concentrated in a few large coins or spread across everything?

Size is always the measure you chose — market cap by default. Colour is the percentage price change over the selected window (1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days). A pale tile has barely moved; a saturated green or red tile has moved sharply. The label on each tile shows the ticker and the percentage.

A screen that is mostly one colour tells you the direction of the market. A screen that is mixed tells you money is rotating between sectors rather than entering or leaving crypto as a whole.

The Coins view shows individual assets. The Sectors view groups them into categories — Layer 1s, DeFi, meme coins, stablecoins, AI and so on — and sizes each group by its combined market cap, coloured by its market-cap-weighted 24-hour change. It is the quickest way to see which narrative is leading and which is lagging on a given day.

Each measure tells a different story. Market cap shows where the value sits. Volume shows where the trading is — a coin with a modest cap but a huge tile in the volume view is the centre of attention. Fully diluted valuation (FDV) counts tokens that have not been released yet, so a coin whose FDV tile is much larger than its market cap tile has a lot of future supply still to come, which is worth knowing before you buy.

Prices are refreshed every minute and the tiles recolour as they change. You can leave the page open as a live dashboard; the layout keeps the same shape while the colours move.

Mostly for orientation before making decisions. It is used to gauge market breadth (how many coins are up versus down), to spot sector rotation, to find outliers — a lone red tile in a green market often has a story behind it — and to see whether Bitcoin is moving alone or the whole market is following.

It is a starting point rather than a signal on its own; the coin page behind each tile has the volume, exchanges and history needed to judge a move.

Colour shows the size of a move but not its quality. A tile can be bright green on tiny volume, or its coin may have most of its supply locked, and the heatmap will look the same. It also compresses very small coins into tiles too small to read, so it is a tool for the top of the market rather than for finding micro caps. Nothing on Coinmico is investment advice.
