Airdrop
A free distribution of tokens to wallet addresses, usually to reward early users or attract attention.
Projects airdrop tokens to addresses that used their product before a token existed, or to holders of a related asset. Genuine airdrops arrive in your wallet without action, or are claimed from the project's own verified site.
Fake airdrops are the most common bait for wallet drainers: a message announces a claim, the claim page requests an approval or signature, and the wallet is emptied. Unsolicited tokens that appear in a wallet should be ignored, not sold — interacting with them can trigger a malicious contract.
