Drawdown
The decline from a peak to a subsequent low, expressed as a percentage.
A 50% drawdown requires a 100% gain to recover. Maximum drawdown — the largest peak-to-trough fall in an asset's history — is a more honest measure of its risk than volatility, which averages calm and violent periods together.
