Stablecoin
A token designed to hold a fixed value, usually one US dollar, backed by reserves or a mechanism.
USDT and USDC are the largest, backed by dollar reserves and issued on many chains. Stablecoins are the main quote currency in crypto and the medium through which most volume flows. A stablecoin trading measurably away from its peg is a stress signal for the market.
