BTCC launched in June 2011 as BTC China, founded by Bobby Lee, Yang Linke and Huang Xiaoyu, which makes it one of the longest-running cryptocurrency exchanges still trading. It was briefly the largest bitcoin venue in the world by volume in late 2013, stopped serving mainland China after the 2017 ban on exchange trading there, and was sold to a Hong Kong investment firm the following year.
