Finality
The point after which a transaction cannot be reversed by the network.
Proof-of-work chains offer probabilistic finality — reversal becomes exponentially unlikely with each confirmation but never impossible. Many proof-of-stake chains offer deterministic finality after a fixed number of slots, typically under a minute.
