Private key
The secret number that authorises spending from an address; whoever holds it controls the coins.
Signing a transaction with the private key proves ownership without revealing the key. Wallets derive all their private keys from a single seed phrase. The key never needs to leave the device, and any request to enter it into a website is theft.
