Crypto Fear & Greed Index
How the market is behaving right now, on a scale from extreme fear to extreme greed. Every input is measured on our own index — momentum, volatility, breadth, turnover and dominance — so the reading can be traced back to prints we recorded ourselves.
Now
Measured on the Coinmico index at Aug 31, 02:15 PM, from 420 days of our own daily closes.
Historical values
Each earlier day is scored the same way today is, so a change in method never shows up as a change in sentiment.

90 scored days, drawn against the Bitcoin close of the same day on our index.
What today’s score is made of
Every component is read from our own daily closes, scored from 0 (fear) to 100 (greed), then weighted into the number above.

How the index is calculated
The index reads the market the way a trading desk does. Six measurements are taken from the daily closes we keep for the hundred largest assets we price, each scored from 0 (fear) to 100 (greed), then weighted into a single number: how far Bitcoin sits above or below its own thirty day average (25%), how violent that move is against the past year of volatility (20%), how many assets take part in the day (20%), whether turnover confirms the direction (15%), whether money is hiding in Bitcoin (10%), and how hard the rest of the market is being bid (10%).
A score of 0 to 24 reads as extreme fear, 25 to 44 as fear, 45 to 55 as neutral, 56 to 74 as greed, and 75 to 100 as extreme greed. Every earlier day on the chart is scored with exactly the same arithmetic rather than read from a stored value, so a change in the method could never show up as a change in sentiment.
This is Coinmico’s own index. It is not the CoinMarketCap or Alternative.me index, it is not copied from any other sentiment provider, and it does not read social media posts or search volume — only market data we measured. Where our history is not deep enough to answer something, the page shows an em dash instead of a figure.
Sentiment is a description of the tape, not a forecast, and nothing here is investment advice. The full measurement rules are in our methodology, and the same reading is available on the global market page.
