Limit order

An order to buy or sell at a specified price or better, which waits in the order book until it can be filled.

A limit order gives control of price at the cost of certainty of execution: if the market never reaches the price, it never fills. Resting limit orders provide the liquidity that market orders consume and usually earn a lower maker fee.
