Total value locked (TVL)
The dollar value of assets deposited in a protocol or pool.
For a DEX pool, TVL is the liquidity available to trade against and determines price impact. For a lending or staking protocol, it measures adoption. TVL rises and falls with token prices as well as with deposits, so a falling TVL does not always mean withdrawals.
