Proof of stake
A consensus mechanism in which validators post the chain's coin as collateral to propose blocks and lose it for dishonesty.
Ethereum, Solana and most newer chains use proof of stake. It replaces energy expenditure with economic stake and typically offers faster finality. Holders can stake coins to earn a share of issuance and fees.
