Software or hardware that holds private keys and signs transactions; the keys, not the coins, live in it.
Coins live on the blockchain; a wallet holds the keys that control them. Exchange wallets are custodial (the exchange holds the keys); self-custody wallets are hot (on a connected device) or cold (offline). Every wallet's holdings and history are public by address, which is what Coinmico's wallet and whale trackers read.
